Why the Door Left the Track
Four causes account for nearly everything we see. A roller wore out or its bearing seized, so it stopped rolling and started dragging until it popped the channel. Something struck the door, most often a vehicle bumping the bottom section. A cable broke or came off its drum, dropping one side and pulling the rollers sideways out of the track. Or the track itself came loose from the wall, usually because the lag bolts backed out over years of vibration.
Stop Using the Opener Immediately
Once the door is out of the channel, the opener is no longer pulling it along a rail. It is dragging a heavy panel against a steel edge. Each attempt bends more track, twists more hinges, and creases more panel.
