What is the difference between belt drive and chain drive?

Belt drive openers (Premium and Plus) use a rubber belt to move the door — they are significantly quieter and smoother than chain drive. The Basic uses a metal chain drive, which is a reliable and time-tested system but produces more noise and vibration during operation. If your garage is attached to your home and noise is a concern, belt drive is the better choice. If your garage is detached or noise is not a concern, the chain drive Basic is a solid and dependable option.

Is battery backup included or an add-on?

Battery backup is included with the Premium model at no additional cost. On the Plus model, battery backup is available as an add-on upgrade — let us know when you book and we will include it in the installation. The Basic does not support battery backup, so power outages will affect its operation.

Is the keypad included or an add-on?

The Premium and Plus both include a keypad as part of the installation. The Basic does not include a keypad but one is available as an add-on — just let us know when you book and we will bring one and install it at the same time.

What is myQ and do all three models have it?

myQ is LiftMaster’s smart home app that lets you open, close, and monitor your garage door from your phone from anywhere in the world. You get notifications when the door opens or closes and can share access with family members. All three models — Premium, Plus, and Basic — include myQ connectivity, so you get app control regardless of which opener you choose.

Why is battery backup important in Arizona?

Arizona monsoon season can knock out power unexpectedly. Without battery backup, your garage door will not operate during an outage — you could be locked out of or into your garage. The Premium includes battery backup. The Plus can have it added as an upgrade. If this is a concern, we recommend at minimum the Plus with the battery backup add-on.
